Permission Email

This is an email we sent to Virgin Records asking for permission to use their song. We sent it to the record company because they have ownership over their music and is important for them to know that we are using it for educational purposes and nothing else.

If we have no response from them we will then continue to use their music for our own use. However if they decide for us not to use the music then we will have to remake our music video and redo our story boards.

Editing Club Scenes - Timelapse

This is for part of video where we want the focus to be on the main actress, Honor. So we made all of the dancers dance in the background and made Honor stand still. This was important because then during time-lapse she would stay still and everyone would be bustling around her.
We put it in black and white as the strobes looked best desaturated and it also looked more like a club scene.

Editing Club Scenes - Slow Motion

For this club scene edit we experimented with the colour board to see what would look best for our music video style. We decided that a low saturation level and a slight dimming of the exposure was best for our music video.

We have also been playing with the speed of the video because we want it be slow motion and to fit in between shots of the Hotel Room. This will create a contrast between the fast and slow shots.

These clips will be used in our final video. But we will have to adjust the colour levels to match the rest of the video.

We have done a few slow motion clips in this style as we thought having more of a variety would help.

Problems & Solutions

Lighting Plan - Bathroom

This will be our lighting for the scene in the bathroom. Unfortunately we wont have a lot of room and we will have to make do with spotlights for lighting.

We will light the subject from the side so to create a silhouette and the camera will be filming the subjects acting in the mirror's reflection.

Lighting Plan - Studio

We have set the subject up to the centre of the image so that all focus is on them. There will be a light that will make sure the background looks strongly isolated from the subject. We will also use a light to light the subject from the side which will be soft but still high key.
The camera has been set up so that it'll be a mid shot of the subject but also in enough space to move around and pan.

Lighting Plan - Hotel Room

This will be quite difficult to light effectively as we will also be battling with daylight.
We will have a soft light on the rest of the room behind the subjects to create a blurred effect.
We will have quite a harsh, low-key light on the subjects so that they are in focus and strongly distinguished from the rest of the room.

Lighting Plan - Club Scene

This set had many different lights from all directions.
This was to create spotlights on the main subject and then the dancers were subject to the strobe lighting.
The camera was set up on a tripod so to capture the subject among the crowds.
Then we moved the camera around and everyone was immersed in strobe lights for the slow motion clips.

Lighting Plan - Cambridge

This is for the filming in Cambridge in the back streets. We are going to try and use set lighting to light the subject and rely on the light coming out of club windows to create a blurred effect behind them.

Signed Model Release Forms

These are the signed forms that we collected from Honor and Miles.
These have been signed by themselves and their parents.

Digital Story Board

We created a digital storyboard on Prezi after our feedback. This meant that we were able to see all of our clips and our progress from the original story board to this one too.

Story Board

Studio Application

This is a studio near where we live which lets you hire by the hour. This will be perfect for us as it isn't too expensive as we are working from a student budget and also it is close. They let you control your own lighting and you can construct your own shots.
It will cost £18 in total which means only £6 each.

Mock Advert

MILES - FUGITIVE
This is an example poster that Anna created during our lesson time whilst we were completing the risk assessment. We have decided to do a tour poster which shows the different venues that have or haven't been sold out. This is selling the band well because it shows that they are desirable and sought after by bands.
We have used images that we will use on our CD Digipak to show intertextual references.

Cambridge Filming - Weather

We needed to look at the weather conditions for our day out filming during half term. We will be going to Cambridge and we will be outdoors the whole time which means we will have to adjust our costumes accordingly. Unfortunately, as we are filming during October, the weather is not going to be particularly easy to handle. The temperature is already dropping quite low and so we need to make sure our actor and actress are as comfortable as possible.

From the forecast so far, we can see that it is going to be particularly cold and possibly rainy. This is not ideal but it will have to be coped with well. So we will make sure we have briefed the actor and actress on the correct costume and we will also bring warm coats, hot drinks and umbrellas to make sure they don't get too uncomfortable.
